Santa Catarina; Parasite; Domestic animals; First reports
Agriculture is one of the mainstays of the Santa Catarina economy, with the western region of the state dominating the aggro-industry. This is a major contributing segment of industry for the Gross Domestic Product in this State. Despite the continued growth of production, agriculture is subject to economic losses, both qualitative and quantitative, one of which can be caused by infectious and parasitic diseases. It is therefore important to know the parasites that affect the animals in the state so that the local livestock potential is attained and Zoonotic diseases are known. The objective is to demonstrate the occurrence of the first reports of parasites that affect domestic animals in the State of Santa Catarina. This work has been developed based on the available information related to the area and the grouping of data from individual studies into one single document. These papers focus on parasitology which is based on the criterion of presenting the first reports of parasitism in domestic animals in the State, accepted articles published, technical announcements, work recorded in cycles, updates, academic weeks, and master's or doctoral theses. All the data found were arranged in table format, making it easier to read. In each species (bovine, dog, goat, equine, chicken domestic, cat, sheep and swine) the parasites were separated by classes (Nematoda, Cestoda, Trematoda, Acanthocephala, Arachnida, Insecta, Sporozoa).
