SUMMARY:

Nutrition of chicks after hatching is a challenge in industrial poultry farming, considering that nutrient absorption is not yet completely established and their energy reserves are low. Based on these facts, research and development of products that help in this period considered critical is extremely important. One supplementation option at this stage are electrolytes and probiotics, which can be important supplements for the nutrition of young birds. The objective of this work is to evaluate the intestinal development of chicks and verify the uniformity of batches by comparing supplemented and non-supplemented batches. It is a way of verifying, based on intestinal evaluation and zootechnical indices, the benefits caused by these products, in addition to comparing treatments. and mortality rate among chicks. Assessment of the intestinal quality of chicks can be done through histopathological analysis. The sample group will consist of 2,240 male chicks, which were divided into four treatment groups, with 10 replications per treatment totaling 40 experimental units with 61 birds each. To collect the birds for necropsy, 6 collections were carried out weekly, starting on the 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days of age. In each period of histopathological collection, 4 portions of the intestine were collected per bird, the final portion of the duodenum, the region of the jejunum before Meckel's diverticulum, the portion of the ileum between the cecum and the cecum with tonsil. For this, a bird was selected that represented the average weight of the birds per pen, with a total of 10 birds per treatment. At the same time, the evaluation of zootechnical indices occurred at 04, 07, 14, 21 and 28 days of age with monitoring of bird weight, mortality, consumption and feed conversion, where all birds from all pens were weighed. This study is expected to prove the efficiency of using food supplement products for chicks after hatching, verifying improvement in intestinal development and improvement in zootechnical results. It will be possible to verify through the data obtained whether the application of the biotic gel has a positive influence on the birds' weight gain, however, many other factors need to be evaluated to prove the efficiency in feed conversion.
