Disease surveillance can be effective in preventing them, contributing to reducing the risk of their occurrence. Despite the legal requirement for valid tests for Brucellosis and Tuberculosis for the transit of breeding cattle, it is believed that this movement exists without prior testing. The objective was to analyze the entry of cattle not tested for Brucellosis and Tuberculosis in São João do Itaperiú and, in this way, verify the number of cattle that entered the municipality for the purpose of reproduction without carrying negative certificates for Brucellosis and Tuberculosis, in addition to demonstrating the percentage of cattle that possibly entered contaminated with Brucellosis and Tuberculosis, estimating the risk of cattle transit for the introduction of these diseases in that municipality. By analyzing the entry of cattle into São João do Itaperiú, it was possible to identify which outbreaks of brucellosis and tuberculosis could have been avoided if the animals had been tested for both diseases, prior to transit. Considering an average of 31 months of age at slaughter, we counted how many cattle were moved until 2018 and are still in the municipality and the percentage of these that entered properties without the examinations required by law for the purpose of reproduction; in addition to the percentage of those who tested positive for one of the diseases since 2013, who entered a municipal property without carrying test certificates.
