SUMMARY:

The indiscriminate use of antimicrobials has been associated with the development of resistance, both in animals and in humans. We are increasingly challenging our production systems with greater productivity, associating profitability with sustainability. Health in swine production is also challenged with increased productivity and production intensification, causing respiratory and enteric disorders, the latter demanding a high use of antimicrobials and additives. Among the enteric problems, Lawsonia intracellularis (LI), an intracellular bacterium that settles in the intestine, is an important factor in the production of swine, the causative agent of proliferative enteritis, can occur in the clinical form, with hemorrhagic diarrhea that can lead to death, or in the subclinical form, impairing feed conversion and weight gain. The objective of the study is to demonstrate that the use of an injectable anti-Lawsonia intracellularis vaccine, decreases the excretion of the agent through the feces and increases the level of anti-Lawsonia intracellularis antibodies, allowing the production of pigs with less use of antimicrobials. The study is being carried out in a commercial system, where we divided into 3 groups of 300 animals each, group with vaccinated animals and receiving medicated feed, second group animals also vaccinated and receiving non-medicated feed and the third group, considered control that are non-medicated animals. vaccinated and treated in the feed. During this period, zootechnical performance evaluations such as weight gain and feed conversion will be carried out, in addition to laboratory tests such as serology and bacterial excretion. At slaughter, lung health and quality of white viscera will be evaluated.
