SUMMARY:

The aim of this study is to detect which productive and inflammatory factors influence milk quality in Jersey dairy cows. Zootechnical data, blood and milk samples will be collected from 70 Jersey cows kept in a semi-extensive system of a dairy farm located in Braço do Norte - SC. Samples of the total diet provided and the pastures will be sent for bromatological analysis. Samples for analysis of milk quality characteristics (lactose, protein, fat and total solids) plus somatic cell count and total bacterial count analysis will be sent refrigerated to the official laboratory. Samples for analysis of inflammatory biomarkers (Paraoxonase-1, albumin, fibrinogen, total plasma proteins) will be sent to the UFPEL laboratory. From the zootechnical data will be considered age, race, milk production, number of lactations, days in lactation, reproductive status, body condition score, calving interval until conception, number of inseminations until conception, calving interval and gestation days. The expected results are to estimate which of the factors studied most influence the quality of milk, with the aim of early diagnosing inflammatory conditions that can affect the quality of the milk, thus enabling better performance of the quality control of dairy products and technical assistance in the properties, reducing thus the economic losses and improving the quality of the milk produced.
