SUMMARY:

The proper management of fertile eggs and the mitigation of the impacts of seasonality of production are extremely important in the poultry production. All slaughter planning begins with the volume of fertile eggs production, hatchery availability, hatching rates and average flocks mortality. A common practice is the storage of fertile eggs with different periods depending on availability. Therefore, the aim of this study will be to evaluate the effects of the storage time of fertile eggs, of two breeder breeds in two different laying ages, on the hatchability and first week mortality rates of broiler chicks. 12 treatments will be performed, with two breeds at 2 different laying ages, eggs between 30 and 40 weeks and eggs between 50 and 60 weeks and three different periods of fertile egg storage, being 3, 5 and 8 days. The eggs will be incubated in a multi-stage hatchery and at birth the male chicks will be housed in an experimental farm with 96 boxes, 40 chicks per box. Eight repetitions will be performed per treatment. Hatching rates of fertile eggs and first week mortality of chicks will be evaluated. The data will be submitted to statistical analysis, first verifying normality through Shapiro-Wilk analysis and later the most appropriate statistical analyses for the study and comparison of means at the level of 5%. It is expected that the project will contribute to the best management of fertile eggs and update the impacts of the storage of fertile eggs of breeds currently used in Brazilian aviculture.
