SUMMARY:

This research will be held in two stages, the first one will be performed in a broiler breeder (LSA01-015) farm, with positive pressure barn and manual nests, placed in Herval D'Oeste (SC), with thirty thousand 50-week-old breeders housed. Sixteen thousand and five hundred twenty-eight eggs will be used for two cleaning and disinfection systems application, being the control group the system by sublimation with paraformaldehyde and the test group applying the automation system by pressure washing with water and calcium oxychloride at 200 ppm. To evaluate eggshells’ enterobacteria and total bacteria contamination, 20 pools of 10 eggshells will be collected to obtain the required amount for each treatment (200 for the control system and 200 for the automated system). The second stage of the experiment will start in the hatchery. After hatching, four thousand and a hundred thirty-two male chicks will be divided into two groups, the control group which will receive vaccine against Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV) plus dye via spray and the test group, which will receive IBV vaccine plus dye and probiotic, via spray, as well. After, the chicks will be transported to Barn 01 at Granja Parque Concórdia -SC, where the 4,132 ROSS TM4 strain male chicks will remain from 01 up to 42 days old. For this amount, 16,528 eggs will be sent for incubation considering a hatching rate of 50% (8,264 hatched chicks) and the sexing factor 50% (4,132 males). A 2 x 2 factorial design (two egg disinfection systems and probiotic additive used or not used), totaling four treatments, will be performed. The chicks will be housed in a barn equipped with 76 pens with capacity for 56 birds each one (except pens 1, 2, 75 and 76, where 25 birds will be housed to form a border). The broilers from the four different treatments will be weighed in groups in the initial phase and after individually on a digital scale, for average weight gain and feed conversion, and the flock mortality data will also be recorded throughout the rearing. For intestinal microbiota evaluation, fecal samples will be collected by cloacal swab at 21 days old, using FTA cards (each sample will consist of 4 swab pools from 25 birds, totaling 800 birds) for further sending to Boehringer Ingelheim laboratory. This analysis includes the microbiota profile sequencing and identification for intestinal health evaluation according to the four applied treatments. All results obtained will be compared among each other using statistical analysis.
