Brazil stands out for the production of pigs, however pig farming also impacts the environment. Among the environmental problems of pig farming is contamination by pathogenic agents in swine manure. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the pig liquid manure fermentation process in storage units, regarding the presence / persistence / viability of pathogenic microorganisms. Ten pig farms with a similar breeding system were monitored in the municipality of Presidente Castello Branco - SC, and two manure collections were carried out in storage units - estuaries, day 0 and day 60, totaling 60 samples. The samples were sent for microbiological analysis and the strains were isolated for antimicrobial sensitivity testing. Variations in the concentrations of indicator bacteria were observed between the properties, but the statistical analysis of the data showed that the depth did not interfere with the bacterial count. The microbiological concentration of the second collection was lower than the first. Regarding the analysis of antimicrobial resistance, the strains analyzed were multidrug-resistant to the tested products. Thus, it was found that the storage period was efficient to lower the microorganism indexes, but in the same way, a microbial multiresistance was found, thus it is emphasized that the safer the material, the better it will be for environmental, animal and human health, collaborating greatly for the concept of one health.
