SUMMARY:

 Recent studies and debates about the teaching of Geography, aim to understand how spatial cognition skills can be systematized by geographic reasoning processes. In the school context, this research project seeks to understand how these skills can be developed through the construction of notions and concepts, having as research subjects, a 6th grade class of elementary school. The integration and articulation of cartographic language and ludic teaching approaches play an important role in this process. The research will be developed within the scope of the Professional Master's Program in Geography Teaching in a National Network (ProfGEO), focusing on the line of research 'Languages in Geography Teaching'. To achieve these objectives, the project will adopt a qualitative methodological approach, using action research as a method. Data collection will occur through systematic observation of students during the implementation of proposed activities, in addition to document analysis of student productions. As an educational product, a didactic sequence will be developed, which will play an important role as a data source and also as an analysis tool. The didactic sequence will allow a deeper understanding of how the use of playful approaches in orientation and spatial location activities can help students to develop their perception and understanding of space. By exploring the potential of playful approaches in Geography teaching, this research project seeks to expand knowledge on how to promote the development of spatial thinking and stimulate students' geographic reasoning, providing theoretical and practical subsidies for the improvement of pedagogical practices in this area of study.
