SUMMARY:

This work presents research in progress that investigates the institution school from the perspective of school culture. The work is developed in the line of research 'Knowledge and knowledge of geography in the school space', seeks to work on the teaching of geography with students in the ninth grade of elementary school, with the aim of understanding whether the teaching of geographic categories, place and landscape, can be used to build a sense of identification of students with the school institution. Several paths could be traced To investigate this theme, this research intends to recognize this perception under the perspective of observation of students' memory, investigating the experience of these actors in institution, because the history of the students helps to build the history of the school. the teaching of Geography presents itself as an instrument to develop different knowledge and in the school space. Through the categories 'place' and 'landscape', we seek to help students to know their role in the production of built space and recognize the social cut where they are
inserted, in the search for identification with the school institution. The methodological approach of
research is qualitative and is presented in a basic way, data collection will be through interviews and
of a focal point, seeking to systematize and discuss the data from the dialogical analysis of the discourse. For achieve the objectives of the program, the proposed educational product will be a didactic sequence, a pedagogical intervention script will be applied, so that the students participating in the research become appropriate the geographic categories mentioned, based on their own experiences in the environment school. The product can contribute as an instrument of analysis of the geographic space, opening possibility for students to see that there are different readings about the places and landscapes, from the school institution they study. The stories shared by
students will be exposed, based on an artistic intervention in the different environments of the school.
It is understood that the demonstration can articulate the construction of identification with the school, generating a sense of belonging, being able to understand their reality through the categories
geographic areas worked on in the classroom.
