SUMMARY:

This study is part of the line of research “Training Processes and Educational Policies”, of the Graduate Program in Education, of the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina – IFC, at Campus Camboriú. The general objective of the research is to analyze the extent to which there are approximations in public gender policies in education to guarantee access and permanence of mother students in higher education in Brazil and Argentina, from 1993 to 2021. The methodology, with A qualitative approach, the data collection technique is based on documentary research, in which official documents from the websites of the Ministry of Education of Brazil and Argentina, the Sistema de Información de Tendencias Educativas en América Latina (SITEAL) will be used as primary sources. and the Gender Equality Observatory of Latin America and the Caribbean; and bibliographic research, in dissertations, theses, books and periodicals. The research belongs to the field of comparative studies of education, which make it possible to identify approximations between phenomena and or realities, in this case between gender policies in education to guarantee access and permanence of student-mothers in higher education. It will be fundamental to the study of the object the analysis of the socioeconomic-political contexts of the countries, in order to understand the social forces in dispute that influenced the process of elaboration and outbreak of the public politics of gender in the education, as well as the relation of these with the recommendations of the international bodies. Therefore, data analysis will start from a critical perspective, in order to contribute to the discussion of gender in education, with a view to human emancipation, in addition to making theoretical and practical contributions about equal access and permanence of student-mothers in higher education.
