SUMMARY:

The knowledge produced about people with deafness, the different educational practices directed to them led to binary classifications such as: deaf x hearing impaired; different vs. deficient, theoretical and social representations from which discussions, contradictions and tensions emerge in the way of understanding and conceiving deafness. In this sense, this study in progress, intends to give visibility to the differences that make up this deaf universe, mainly with regard to the linguistic question. Differences that are intrinsically related to how the person with deafness signifies his bodily condition through the experiences lived in the social world. Under the subjective perspective of these people, there is an intention to transcend the theoretical arguments that go in defense of a model to be followed, or of a determined place to be occupied, without sustaining a colonizing vision, but rather the existence, the singular constitution of the person with deafness while being in the world. With the intention of opening space for the multiple and valuing the voice of the subject with deafness, this study has as general objective to describe and understand the social experiences and experiences of three subjects with profound deafness, constituted by different linguistic modalities among them (oralized, signed and bimodal). This is a qualitative research, using the case study method based on life history (ANDRÉ, 2012), where we used the semi-structured interview to collect the data, which are under analysis from the theoretical perspective of the Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD). In order to dialogue with the results of the apprehended data, we used the theoretical perspective of the French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1908-1961) and his interpreters as a basis, which will lead our look at the subjectivities expressed through the meanings attributed to the experiences of the body lived in absence of the sense of hearing, we still try to get closer to the contributions of Lev Vigotski's studies (1896-1934) regarding disability, when considering that a person with deafness does not start from the concept of incompleteness or disability, but from a human being in potential to develop. Finally, the ongoing analyzes will contribute to thinking about deafness from the perspective of deaf experiences and subjectivities, especially with regard to linguistic diferences.
