SUMMARY:

This assignment aims to investigate what are the conditions of accessibility and inclusion offered by the libraries of the Instituto Federal Catarinense (IFC) to people with disabilities. The main issue focuses on how IFC libraries contemplate accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities. The research members are the employees from the 17 libraries that constitute the IFC Integrated Library System (SIBI - IFC). The research is configured as qualitative, descriptive, interpretative, bibliographic and documentary. Data collection is performed using two semi-structured online questionnaires applied with the Google Forms tool. One of the questionnaires is directed to the person in charge of each library and aims to identify the accessibility conditions of the libraries, in light of the Brazilian Standard (NBR) 9050/2020. The other questionnaire is intended for all research participants, in order to identify their perceptions regarding accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities in libraries. Data analysis will take place through content analysis based on Franco (2008) and Bardin (2011), when the data, IFC documents, national legislation and theoretical frameworks that address issues related to accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities will be processed. So far, with the development of the bibliographic study, we have identified that libraries have their history based on cultural and social projects, factors that also permeate the concept of disability and care for people with disabilities throughout human history.
