SUMMARY:

Knowing the profile and expectations of students is of paramount importance for educational institutions and their teachers, whether in basic education, high school, undergraduate or graduate. In our 'Burnout Society', as the South Korean philosopher Byung-Chul Han (2015) classifies it, the subject is no longer the "subject of obedience", of that disciplinary society full of negativity, and became the "subject of performance "in contemporary society, whose gear started to be grounded and supported by information, knowledge and intense loads of self-responsibility and flexibility. Also, in line with Han (2015), the Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman (2007) states that we are living in liquid times, in which social institutions and organizations cannot (and neither) remain in the same form for a long time. Based on this hypothesis, the general objective is to analyze whether the profile and expectations of graduates of higher education courses in the area of Information Technology (IT) of the Federal ‘Catarinense’ Institute (IFC-Camboriú), being of the Bachelor courses in Information and Technology Systems for Internet, present the Liquid-Modern characteristics of our Burnout Society. The construction of this analysis is taking into account whether the perspectives of these trainees in the training, personal and professional fields present the Liquid-Modern characteristics of our Burnout Society, where everything becomes fluid and perishable at the same time. As for the tools for data collection, we use the techniques of Semi-structured Questionnaire, carried out through the tool Google Forms and Focus Group, to guarantee and ensure as much information as possible about the profile and expectations of these trainees. For data analysis purposes, we use the Content Analysis technique, by Laurence Bardin (2016), which is a tool that helps the researcher to create axes of analysis of the findings, in a way that allows the interpretation and triangulation of the research data at the light of the authors. An analysis of the ‘Pedagogical Course Projects (PPCs)’ was also carried out, with the objective of building a triangulation with the statements of the academic graduates and with the theories proposed by the 'hard core' who is theoretically supporting this research. Finally, the ongoing analyzes show that these graduating students present the Liquid-Modern characteristics of our Burnout Society, in which it is intended to point out some paths that have the potential to contribute to the higher training process, in balance both with the traditional and solid view of the educational institution in which the research was carried out, and with the view of the 'new world' of the trainee subjects.
