SUMMARY:

This work presents a Master's research to be submitted to a qualification exam, linked to the line of research Formative Processes and Educational Policies of the Graduate Program in Education of the “Instituto Federal Catarinense”. This is a study that deals with the Integrated High School proposal of the “Instituto Federal Catarinense” (IFC). Its general objective is to analyze the challenges and potential so that IFC's Integrated Technical Education in High School (EPTIEM) constitutes an offer of comprehensive human training. For this, in theoretical and methodological terms, it uses bibliographic and documentary research procedures. Regarding the approach, it claims the dialectic and combines quantitative and qualitative aspects. To get to the main theme, it presents, in the first part of the work, fundamental elements of the material basis and the Work-Education relationship in the social form of capital, to then investigate IFC's integrated high school proposal, its path and its implementation. The recent movement provoked at IFC, which developed IFC's EPTIEM Guidelines, is described based on documents made available by the institution. Indicating, towards the end, the intention of collecting, producing and analyzing data, based on the collaboration of IFC workers who participated in the broad movement studied, which will be carried out after the qualification exam. The provisional results indicate that the political decision of IFC's management represents an important step towards the materialization of the desired proposal, committed to overcoming educational duality and meeting the interests of the working class.
